Boy's Weekend

A few weeks ago, Dominic took Jacoby to some truck pulls in Tremonton. Ever since then, Jacoby has asked for the "big trucks" non-stop. He even learned the joys of YouTube and will watch truck pull clips over and over for hours. So, Dominic decided to take him to another truck pull. The only one close to us was in Heber, so they made a camping weekend out of it. They invited Nate and Porter and the 4 of them had a great time. Jacoby and Porter get along so well and they haven't seen each other in a while, so it was fun for them.

Jacoby in the truck headed up to Heber.

Porter on his side of the truck. Apparently they were super cute and were singing songs together during the drive.

Bob and his kids decided to head down to the truck pulls as well. Jacoby loves Bob and has informed me that next time they go to the truck pulls, it's Bob's turn to take him.

The boys. Apparently Porter thought that the trucks were pretty cool too.

And, I threw this in because today was Jacoby's first day back to school! So, I snapped a picture, but I couldn't get the little turd to smile. He loves school and was so excited to go back. We also started a tumbling class today that he did really well in. It took him a few minutes to decide that he wanted to participate, but once he did, he had a blast. I didn't get any pictures today because my hands were full with my rambunctious toddler, but I will try to post some the next time he goes.

Kickball and the Fair

We enrolled Jacoby in kickball this year. It's for 3-4 year olds and it lasts for a month with a game every Tuesday and Thursday evening. We didn't have a practice before the first game, so we just showed up a little early and let Jacoby watch and kick the ball around with his coach and some of the other kids. He seemed to catch on really quick and was having a blast playing...until game time. Once the game actually started, he decided he was hot (it was 95° out in the full sun and his uniform was dark purple, so I don't blame him!), and he didn't want to play any more. Dominic got him to play for a minute and he kicked the ball, ran around the bases, and then that was it. Dominic tried to get him to play for the rest of the game while he cried, threw fits, and sat down and played in the dirt and made the players run around him. I was chasing Riley around trying to keep him out of trouble, so we didn't get many pictures. Hopefully, we do better the next game. Even though Jacoby didn't want to play, he hasn't stopped asking for kickball since, so we're optimistic he'll like it. It was just super hot!

Pardon my big butt in the way, but I wanted to post this picture to show the cute little field for the kids. The kids were adorable running around and playing!

The coaches were awesome and everybody was so patient.

Running around the bases.

I snapped this picture at the end of the game. Dominic and I traded kids and I was trying to get him to play some more, but he wasn't having it. He was pointing his finger at me saying no.

We also had our silly little fair happen at the beginning of August. We've taken Jacoby every year, but he's never been a big fan of the rides. This year, he was! It was finally fun for him.

I took them on the Carousel. We had to sit in the cart because I couldn't hold Riley and lift Jacoby up onto the horse. The horses were high and I was afraid that if I put Riley down, he'd instantly take off and fall off the edge of the carousel. So, we were boring and sat. Jacoby thought it was pretty cool though. Years past, he just cried.

He also rode this ride all by himself! He was in the very front and he had a blast. This was before the ride started and Dominic was telling him to raise his arms.

Riley in the stroller while Jacoby was on his ride.

We wandered around to all of the booths and Jacoby saw a display of sunglasses. He loves sunglasses lately, so Dominic let him pick out his own pair. Of course Jacoby chose the pink pair.

Weekend with the Speer Clan

A couple of weeks ago, Dominic's sister Bobbi had a baby shower thrown for her. So, Dominic's family came up from Vegas, and we headed down to SLC to see everybody and attend the shower. Bobbi got a ton of cute baby girl stuff. It almost made me want to have another one and try for a girl....haha! Just kidding. It was a ton of fun and it was great to see everybody! I didn't get many pictures, but here are a few good ones!

The shower. This group is the family. Not the most flattering picture of some, but it was the only one I got of everybody.

And this is the whole family at Bobbi and Matties house.

This kid was everywhere. He wore everybody out over the weekend, including himself. Poor Riley was a Mama's boy and wouldn't have much to do with anybody. He'll get better though.

Naked boy playing with Pops.

Riley, Jacoby, and their cute 2nd cousin, Nevaeh in the tub. We couldn't get all 3 of them to look at the camera at once. They were worn out.

Jacoby and Daddy

Jacoby and Daddy have been going out and spending time together lately while Riley and I have our own quality time. Last weekend, Dominic took him up Logan Canyon to Tony's Grove. They were going to fish, but since the ice just came off a few weeks ago, they haven't stocked the lake yet. While they were there, Dom's good friend Bob and Bob's nephew, Kit, happened to show up. Kit just got married and was in town seeing family and they were out seeing the scenery and ran into Dom and Jacoby. They had a blast playing on the snow and around the lake.

Happy Boy! He loves being outside with his Daddy.

Another good shot of Daddy and Jacoby

The newlyweds posing for the camera, with Jacoby, of course.

Jacoby loved the snow. There was still plenty, which isn't normal for this time of year.

Cool picture of the lake. Jacoby is dropping rocks into it.

On Saturday, a friend of Dominic's asked them to go to a truck pull in Tremonton. Dominic took Jacoby and he loved it! He keeps asking for the big trucks now. He didn't like the black smoke that came from them though. He would cover his eyes with Dominic's hand or his hat. The noise didn't seem to bother him though. They stayed for over 4 hours and Jacoby had fun the entire time.

Some cool trucks.

Such handsome boys!

And, lastly, Dominic got today off for Utah's Pioneer Day. So, he took Jacoby fishing in Idaho. Jacoby caught his first fish!

Showing off his tackle box.

Fish On! He caught 4 or 5 of them and then he was bored. So, he went back to his regular running around and playing in the rocks and the water. Silly boy.

He decided that he wanted to run around in just his diaper. He's saying "One more time" in this picture.

He's posing for the camera with his bag of Cheetos.

Walking

I just posted the other day about Riley almost being ready to walk. He would take 4 or 5 steps alone and then fall or grab something to hold onto. Well, he woke up this morning and decided that he was going to walk by himself. It literally happened overnight. Yesterday, he was crawling and cruising and today, he's walking all over the house. He's unsteady and has fallen and bonked his head more than once, but he's determined. I got the video camera out and took a short video of him walking from my room down the hallway and into the kitchen. I have a feeling that he's going to be the child that goes straight to running within a week.

Picture Update!

We've taken some random pictures since Summer began that really haven't fit into any of my other blog posts. So, I thought that I would just post a bunch of pictures to show what we've been doing. Sadly, we haven't done much as my kids have gotten every single illness that there is to get lately, so we've mostly spent time indoors with our friend "Tylenol". Hopefully the second part of summer is better and I have much more interesting things to post.

I bought the boys the new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse video, Minnie's Masquerade and inside was a masquerade mask. I'm not sure who they thought it would fit though, because this was as far as it would go on Jacoby's head and he's only 3. He thought it was cool though and wore it around for a few days.

We went to Hogle Zoo on June 30 with my friend Jaime and her kids. Unfortunately, Jacoby decided that he didn't want to cooperate that day. So, I didn't take many pictures because he was a serious little grump.

This was him. Most of the 2 hours that we were there.

And this was Riley most of the time we were there. He didn't want to stay in the stroller, but I couldn't hold him and try to push the stroller with Jacoby in it at the same time, so he got cookies and candy. That made him happy. I know, I'm Mother of the Year.

This was by the Tigers. He liked them and actually smiled!

They now have big dinosaurs all over the park and some of them move and talk and they scared Jacoby. I think that's why he was so out of sorts was because as soon as we walked in, one growled and sprayed water and completely freaked him out. This one however, didn't make any noise and he was brave enough to go play on it with his friend Morgan. I think this is the only time the 2 of them played together. We'll have to go somewhere else next time.

Cute kids! After dinner one night.

Silly boy making faces.

When we went camping to Downata, there was a little girl there that had a bike that Jacoby thought was pretty cool. It didn't have peddles, which we thought was odd, but he really liked the bike. She was a sweet little girl and let Jacoby ride it. So, we looked them up when we got home. They don't have peddles because they are a learning bike. They teach kids to balance and turn the handle bars without the extra confusion of trying to peddle at the same time. So, we ended up buying Jacoby one. We've bought him tricycles and such, but he doesn't have much interest in them and we were excited that he actually liked this bike!

Daddy wrapped it for him.

Riding it. He actually lost interest in this quick too, but then Daddy bribed him into riding it to the park. Now he really thinks it's fun. He hasn't figured out how to go fast on it yet, but that's okay.

We had a small little storm go over the mountains the other day and it looked really cool. Dom and I were enjoying our evening on the front porch after the kids went to bed and the clouds looked really neat above the mountains.

Jacoby is a picky eater. He has never been interested in things like ice cream or popsicles. However, at school, they've had an ice cream theme going on all week long. He suddenly is interested in ice cream, so we gave him an ice cream cone for being good after dinner. He actually ate it! Riley got a small bowl of it and he loved it too, but that kid loves everything.

And, this is just a cute picture of my baby.

Riley is really, really close to walking. He will walk holding the walls, the bed, couch, or whatever and he'll let go and take several steps by himself before grabbing hold of something again. He loves to just hold one of our hands now and walk all over. We have a little train that has handles on it that was designed for kids to walk behind, but he's never shown much interest in it until now. I took Jacoby outside to play and Dominic got some video of Riley with his train. It won't be long before he's all over without help!
