Jacoby's Birthday and Halloween!

This post is going to very long with lots of pictures. I know I'm late in posting this, but it's better late than never!

This year for Jacoby's birthday, Dominic's mom flew in to spend some time with us. She flew in the day before Jacoby's birthday and stayed with Bobbi that night. So, we got up and drove to SLC to pick her up and we went to Kangaroo Zoo to let Jacoby play and celebrate his birthday. Michelle and Porter met us there and Jacoby had a blast running around and playing! He loves that place! Porter wasn't quite sure what to think of it. We stayed for about an hour and half and then Riley got upset and wouldn't calm down and Porter was ready to leave, so we headed home. I unfortunately didn't get any pictures this time. Later that evening, we all headed to my moms house. She does a Halloween Party every year for the grandkids, and this year, it fell on Jacoby's birthday! It's always a lot of fun, and the kids love it. It was great that Jacoby got to celebrate his birthday with all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins too!

Grandma all dressed up and getting pizzas in the oven.

My mom made a cut out for us to take our pictures with! She's so talented when it comes to crafts and artwork.

I wish that I would have gotten more pictures of the other kids. My brother Greg's kids were dressed up and his 5 year old son Eric scared Jacoby. I think that's the first time in his life that he's really been afraid of something. Eric was dressed as a scary skeleton and I think he felt bad that he scared Jacoby.

Jacoby was dressed as an alligator, but he refused to wear the hat part most of the time. He loved this little witch that my mom had. He would push a button and she would light up and talk.

After dinner, my mom brought out an awesome birthday cake that she had made for Jacoby so we could all sing him Happy Birthday.

While we were singing Happy Birthday. He actually seemed to enjoy it this year. I think he liked being the center of attention.

He actually blew out his candles this year too! That was a first!

I think Grandma and Aunt Kensy were trying to talk him into taking a bite.

After the party, we headed back to our house where Bobbi and Mattie were waiting for us. We sang Happy Birthday to Jacoby again and let him open presents. He actually ripped them open this year! That is another first. He's never been really interested in opening his presents before. He got a Leap Frog Laptop, which he loves!

He also got a cool tricycle, which he also loves!

It was a great 3rd birthday for Jacoby!

When Halloween falls on a Sunday, the state of Utah usually celebrates it on Saturday. So, the day after Jacoby's birthday was Utah's Halloween.

Dominic bought this hat for one of the adults to wear, but Bobbi put it on Riley. He looked so cute! We did have a small monkey jacket for him, but I didn't get any pictures of him wearing it.

Off to go trick-or-treating with Dad and Grandma Speer! He'd never been before and he was more interested in riding in the wagon than he was in the actual trick-or-treating.

It started to rain so Jacoby got a nice umbrella to keep him dry while grandma and daddy got all wet. Because of the rain and Jacoby's lack of interest, they only went to 3 houses. Later, Jacoby's friend, Porter, came up and they went out again. He did much better the second time and they went to 11 houses that time. he counted every house they got a treat from. Smart little stinker. It was a great Halloween weekend!

And, one last picture. Jacoby started going to a new preschool this week. He is now going to River Heights Elementary Preschool. He now goes 4 days a week, for 2 1/2 hours a day.

I snapped this picture of him as we were leaving the house on his first day. He looks so grown-up! He loves school! I hope that he continues to love it as he gets older.

Random Pictures

I seem to have a lot to blog about lately. Don't get used to it; I'm sure we'll be back to being boring before you know it. Anyways, here are some random pictures that we've taken lately. Riley has become somewhat mobile. He has figured out how to scoot on his back. I put him on a play mat when I need to get dinner made or other chores done. He now scoots off of it and I find him by our bed or in the doorway. He thinks it's great that he can move, but I'm not quite ready to have a mobile baby. Oh well.

I found him in our doorway. (Don't worry, I moved the baby monitor so he can't get tangled in the cord).

Riley is over by our bed and I was trying to take a picture of him, but Jacoby hopped in and yelled "Cheese!". The play mat behind Jacoby is where Riley was originally, but he moved all the way over towards our bed.

We bought this exersaucer off of KSL and Riley loves it! I think it's his favorite of all of the toys we have (and we have a ton!).

His fingers are a favorite lately too. They are constantly in his mouth.

Jacoby got new boots!

Jacoby was running around at top speed in a quiet parking lot when he tripped over his own feet. His face broke his fall. Poor kid. He has a goose-egg on his forehead and some pretty good scratches around his eye. It's a little purple under his eye, but not bad. It actually looks worse in person than in this picture. I think this is the worst injury that he's had so far in life.

He was not happy about having his picture taken. He knew that there was something "wrong" with his face and he's becoming aware enough of his appearance that he didn't want to show it off.

Kangaroo Zoo

I've been wanting to get together with my friend Jaime for quite a while. She moved to Salt Lake City about a year ago and we just haven't gotten together much since she moved. She has a little girl the same age as Jacoby and she just had a baby boy in September. So, we have a lot in common. Anyways, I told her that I was coming down and she suggested that we get together at Kangaroo Zoo in North Salt Lake. It's a big play area for kids that is filled with giant inflatable slides and toys. So, I packed up the kids and off we went! We had a blast! Bobbi came and met us since we were so close and she missed the kids. We spent 2 1/2 hours there and wore the kids out. It was a quiet ride home. We will definitely go back.

The little chicken wouldn't jump out of the toys at firs. He laid on his belly and slithered out. He got over it after watching Morgan.

Jacoby and Morgan playing. She's mid-jump in between the dinosaur's humps, so she's blurry. She never stayed still long enough for me to get a good picture of her!

Here she is mid-jump again. She's so cute.

He wouldn't go near this slide for the longest time and then he finally got brave and climbed up.

Jacoby and Morgan coming down the slide.

Cute! Auntie Bobbi loving on Riley. He was so good while we were there. He didn't fuss or cry and actually fell asleep in my arms. He hasn't done that in a long time! It was a great day!

Sweet Boys

Jacoby has suddenly decided that he likes being a big brother and that Riley is pretty fun. He actually asks to hold Riley and will cuddle with him. So cute!

We also took the boys into the Dr. last week for their check-ups. Jacoby had his 3 year check and Riley got his 4 month. Jacoby weighed 37 lbs and was 39 1/2 inches tall. He was in the 90% for both height and weight. Riley weighed in at 16 lbs. 14 oz, and was 27 inches. He was in the 85% for weight and 97% for height. We have big boys. Both kids got shots, which sucked. Jacoby hasn't had any shots for over a year and so he didn't remember them. He FREAKED out! When we got home, I took his pants off to change his diaper and he saw his band-aids and started screaming "All done!" and was crying. He walked stiff-legged for the rest of the day too. It was sad, but kind of funny too. Riley did great with his.

We've also been feeding Riley more with a spoon. He still doesn't care for it, but we'll just keep trying.

He had much more on his face and bib than he actually got in his mouth. He was happy about it though!

Pumpkin Patch

We met up with Nate, Michelle and Porter on Saturday and went to a Pumpkin Patch in Syracuse. It was a gorgeous day and it was a lot of fun!

Jacoby looking at the goats

Michelle and Porter feeding the llama's.

I carried Riley around for a while and he rode in his car seat in the stroller for a while. He was so good and stayed awake the whole time we were there.

Jacoby loves slides and there were lots of them at this farm.

They had a little home-made drum set and Jacoby loved it! He was too cute. He would bob his head along with pounding on the drums.

This was their "train" ride. It was a 4 wheeler pulling a bunch of painted barrels. It lasted for about 2 minutes.

The kids on the see-saw.

Dad and Jacoby on the hayride out to the pumpkin patch. Everybody got to pick their own pumpkin and take it home. I stayed behind with Riley and the strollers.

Jacoby was looking for a pumpkin. They ended up with some great pumpkins! We had such a fun day!
