Sprinklers!

We were trying to get some yard work done the other night and so we got the sprinklers out to keep Jacoby occupied. He loved them! He kept running right into the center and screaming and then he would turn around and run out. He had so much fun. It's official...I have the cutest little boy EVER! :)

Vegas!

I suck. I know I suck. I know that I promise to update my blog more, but I don't. Lately, picture taking is almost a chore and I apologize. Anyhoo, on with the update, finally! We went to Vegas over the 4th of July weekend. We had an absolute blast! It was hot, but not as hot as it has been in previous years. I think the high was only 105 and that was the last day that we were there. So, it wasn't too bad. Grandma and Grandpa Speer bought a kiddie pool for Jacoby and he loved it! Unfortunately, the only pictures that we got all weekend long were of Jacoby in his saggy "little swimmers" diapers or just running around. We really didn't get any pictures of anybody else. But, he looked so cute with his sun hat, sandals and a diaper. He absolutely loved playing outside in the rocks, dirt, grass and water. He didn't care how hot it was outside. His poor little cheeks would get rosy and he would start sweating down his neck, so we would wet him down. We tried to keep him indoors, but he wanted to be out.

Saggy Bum!
Dad just put a cookie in his mouth.
He was so stoic while playing in the dirt.
He claps to get the dirt off. He is just too cute.

Aw, so angelic!

Sorry that I didn't take more pictures. We really had a blast and I actually got to BINGO! Yay! Monte, Cyn, Domo and I went and played 11 pm Bingo and had kind of a date night. We didn't get home until 2 am, and Granpa Speer was the most awesome babysitter at 6 when Jacoby woke up. That was the first time since Jacoby was born that we have gone out that late, and we didn't have to get up with him! It was too bad that Grandma had to work over the weekend. We missed her. On the 4th, we sat outside and played cards and watched all of the fireworks from the casinos and then the illegal ones that the neighbors were setting off. Jacoby slept through the whole thing, but we sure enjoyed it. It was tons of fun and we were sad that we had to come home and be adults again. Can't wait to do it again!

Cheese!

Poor Monte was trying to nap and he had Jacoby and the dogs staring at him! Actually, he slept right through it. :)

Poor pouty baby...

Camping Pictures!

We went camping over the weekend and Jacoby was so cute! He loved the dirt and the rocks. He had an absolute blast making a mess all over the place. It rained on us the first day, but then it cleared up. I bought Jacoby a cute little sun hat, and I'm really glad that I did. The sun was very intense. I used Jacoby's baby sunscreen and I got fried! So, I'm very glad that I dressed him in long sleeves and a hat. I guess it's time to buy him some new sunscreen.

Jacoby loves Patty-cake. He's doing the roll it part right here.

Sitting is a new thing for him too. He sits on anything that is the right height. Right after I took this picture, the logs rolled and made him mad.

This was taken first thing in the morning and the wind was really blowing, so we bundled Jacoby up. It was probably overkill, but at least I didn't have to worry about him getting a chill.

Canyon Fun

Today we went up Providence Canyon just to get out of the house and enjoy a break in all of the rain that we've been getting. Jacoby has had another ear infection, so we haven't been out much lately. The poor dogs needed some exercise too! Everybody loved getting out, but the mosquitos were out in full force and we didn't have any spray, so we didn't stay long.

We brought my gun with us so I could practice shooting it (now that I'm licensed to carry it...). Dominic took Jacoby a little ways away behind me to play and the gunshots didn't seem to bother him at all.

He loved the tall grass!

A Few New Pictures of Jacoby

Hi All! Here are some new pictures that we've taken lately! Enjoy.

Jacoby and I were watching a movie and he just leaned into me and fell asleep. I love it when he does that.

Cheese!

Poor Sick Baby...AGAIN!

Jacoby and I have started going to Mommy and Tot classes through the Up to 3 program at Utah State. We love the classes, but we both keep catching all of the bugs that are going around. We have been sick more times in the last 2 months than we have been all of Jacoby's life! Last week during one of the classes, a new mom came with her 3 kids. She brought a sippy cup of milk for each of them and she left them on a table that was low enough for the kids to grab them. Well, Jacoby got a hold of one and started sucking before I could stop him. Of course, the kids all had runny noses and all I could think was "Uh-oh". I knew he was going to catch something from it, and sure enough, he did. (It really irritates me that mom's like her don't keep their kids home when their sick! Why do they think that everybody else needs sick kids too?)

He developed a fever on Saturday, but we didn't think too much of it because he had just had his immunizations a few days before. He wasn't showing any other symptoms, just a fever which we were told was to be expected with his shots. A couple of days went by and he was still feverish and he wasn't sleeping well at night. He developed a runny nose and a cough, so I decided to take him to the Dr. He had a cold, a double ear infection, and what the Dr. thought to be pink eye. We put him on antibiotics, but he just got worse for the next 2 days. We took him back to the Dr. and they switched the antibiotics, and now he seems like he's finally on the mend. Sleep for the last week has been horrible! On Wednesday night, the longest stretch of sleep that he got was about 45 minutes. I honestly think that this is the sickest that he's ever been. It's been a tough week.

Anyways, the other night, we put Jacoby in the bath and because of his fever, he got a chill. I wrapped him in a blanket and laid him on my belly so I could warm him back up. I was rubbing his back and he actually fell asleep on me! It has been so long since he's done that. Dominic grabbed the camera and snapped a few pictures because it's such a rare thing.

Notice the drool...I was soaked by the time I laid him down!

Random Recent Pictures and Jacoby Update

I know that I haven't posted much lately and I haven't had the camera out much either. So, I thought that I would update everybody on Jacoby and provide a few of the most recent pictures that we've taken. On May 11, Jacoby had his 18 month check up. He's getting so big! He was 35 inches tall and weighed 25 lbs. His height is now in the 100% percentile! He is roughly 3 inches taller than other kids his age and it shows when he gets around them! I think it's safe to say that he's getting his height from the Allen side of the family. He is also perfectly healthy and happy! He's also finally starting to say a few words and use a few signs since we've enrolled him in the Up to 3 program at Utah State. We have a speech therapist that comes to the house once a month and Jacoby and I go to speech classes and playgroups 3-4 times a week. We also go to a mommy and tot gymnastics class that he LOVES! The trampoline is his favorite, and I get quite the workout with him. So, all in all, things are going great.

This is Jacoby in his new chair.

Dominic's parents were in town for Mother's Day, and unfortunately, this about the only picture we took all weekend. Jacoby was eating frosted animal cookies and shoved his mouth too full to swallow so it all came running out. Lovely.

This picture was also taken Mother's day weekend. Dominic took his dad fishing and caught a lunker! He was so proud.
