One Year Old

I cannot believe that my baby just turned a year old. It went by so fast. It seems like we just brought him home from the hospital. Jacoby has been such a joy and a blessing in our lives. It is so much fun to watch him grow, but at the same time, it makes me sad. I guess every mother has these feelings and it's just one of the joys (or trials) of parenthood.

Anyways, enough sappiness. Yesterday was Jacoby's first birthday! Dominic brought a cake home and we cut a piece for Jacoby to smash and make a mess with. He actually did find his mouth this time with his sticky fingers and really enjoyed sucking the frosting off. Afterwards, he went straight into the bath.

We tried to get him to open some gifts, but he wasn't interested in that at all. So, we opened them for him. My mom bought him a cute little basketball hoop that he had a lot of fun playing with. He really didn't grasp the whole "ball through the net" concept, but he had fun with it anyways.

Jacoby's First Birthday Party

The Halloween party that my mom had also doubled as a birthday party for Jacoby. Dominic is going to be gone on his birthday, so we decided to sing Happy Birthday and let Jacoby have a piece of cake. He won't feed himself, he just picks up food and drops it and waits for us to do the feeding for him. He did stick his fingers in his mouth and suck the frosting off, but we had to feed him the actual cake. He had fun making a mess though! I did make sure to get him out of his costume before I let him go nuts on the cake though.

Halloween Party!

Last night my mom had a Halloween party for all of the grandkids. We had a really hard time finding a costume that would fit Jacoby, so we weren't going to dress him up. Then, we found Scooby Doo! He hated the hat, but it was so cute! We took it off right after we got pictures of him so we didn't have to deal with a fussy child all night long.

My neices, Charlee and Gracee. Too cute to be scary.

My neice Kaylee. She wouldn't smile for me, she was being shy.

My nephew Braxton. He was happy as could be!

My neice Ella (being held by Aunt Kensy), she was a spider. She was too cute playing with Jacoby. She is about 6 months older than he is.

All of the kids sitting down to dinner. It was a fun night!

He's getting so big!

I haven't been very good at keeping this updated lately, I'm sorry! The other morning, Dominic was playing with Jacoby downstairs and Jacoby was pulling himself up on the couches and the coffee table. He was able to shuffle along the couches and he would turn and grab the coffee table and shuffle along that. He's not quite taking steps yet, but he is able to move! He's getting so big so fast suddenly. He's going to be a year old next week and I can't believe that it's gone that fast.

Kiddie Kandids

Dominic and I took Jacoby to the play area in the mall today for lunch. He had so much fun playing and climbing all over the place. Sorry, we didn't take the camera, so I don't have any pictures of him playing. But, as we were leaving the mall, we walked past Kiddie Kandids. One of the lady's that worked there came out and asked if she could take a couple of pictures of Jacoby for practice. We would get a free 5X7 for our time. We said sure. So, she took 2 pictures of him and they are adorable!

We are going to schedule a 1 year portrait of Jacoby and we're going to do a family picture as well. We didn't buy any copies of these pictures, because they wanted WAY too much money for them. So, we'll go somewhere cheaper and have a bunch of pictures to send out to every body!

Trying to go Down!

Well, Jacoby has mastered going up the stairs and so he decided to try going down the stairs this morning. Only, he couldn't due to a well placed gate (ha!) That didn't stop him from trying though. The gate is a couple inches off of the ground because of the baseboards on the walls. It is just enough room for him to get his legs under, but then he's stopped. I guess that it's a good thing that he's trying to go feet first instead of head first.

Ah, the picture of innocence. "I'm not doing anything"...

Checking it out....

Sliding under....

We got one leg down...

And, the diaper has stopped him!

From Standing to Climbing

Jacoby has been very curious about the stairs lately, and we helped him climb the stairs the other day. Once was all it took. Now that he's figured it out, he's quick! I went upstairs and he decided to follow me. In the time that it took for me to use the bathroom, he was already up the stairs looking for me. Dom was at the bottom of the stairs taking pictures and making sure he didn't fall. Jacoby hasn't quite figured out how to go down yet, and he's not very steady. We don't trust him not to slip or even just fall over backwards and tumble down. With the hardwood at the bottom of the stairs, that would be a nasty fall. He is getting so big so fast and it seems like he surprises us with a new skill every day.
